Swindon Handicap Doubles


February 2002 - The Beginning

This was the first tournament attended by The Manics. I (Mark) had been to other tournaments, including Swindon, in the past but Richard had only taken part in tournaments in his home centre. Definitely a nerve racking experience but we soon settled down once we started bowling.

This was a high scoring event held over two weekends. We bowled on the second weekend and the early pace had been set by the Jaguars team with a handicap score of 2806 over 6 games - superb stuff from them. Unfortunately, we were unable to match this pace and had to settle for 50th place out of 90 teams in the mens section. Not a bad result for a first tournament and a lot of experience had been gained.
